Diagnostic Tools




SiteScope provides tools to help you diagnose problems when they occur.  In the future we will add additional tools that help diagnose problems.  The tools can be accessed either by clicking on the "more" section of a group's monitor list or by selecting a tool from the Diagnostic Tools page.  The Diagnostic Tools page can be accessed using the link in the main SiteScope page (below the main panel).  Below are links to information on the current tools:

Application Diagnostic Tools - operate as a client application
Database ConnectionCheck connectivity and configuration of JDBC or ODBC database connections.
DNS LookupTest a DNS server to verify that it can resolve a domain name. (Includes access to a Traceroute tool to test network routing.)
Check FTP ServerCheck whether an FTP file can be retrieved.
Mail Round Trip TestTest a mail server by sending and retrieving a test message.
PingPerforms a round-trip Ping test across the network. (Includes access to a Traceroute tool to test network routing.)
SNMPPerforms a SNMP get command to a specified SNMP host to retrieve a list of OIDs.
SNMP TrapView the log of SNMP Traps received by SiteScope from SNMP-enabled devices.
Get URLRequests a URL from a server and prints the returned data. (Includes access to a Traceroute tool to test network routing.)
Check URL SequenceRetrieve a sequence of URL's.
Web Service TestUsed to test the availability of SOAP enabled Web Services.
Server Tools - show server statistics.
NetworkDisplay the server's network interface status and active connections
ServicesShows a list of currently running Services.
Advanced Tools - for complex environments (may require additional setup)
LDAP Authentication TestTest an LDAP server by authenticating a user.
Check News ServerCheck whether a News Server is operational.
Performance CountersCheck connectivity to and values in Win NT Performance Counter registries.
Win NT Event LogDisplay portions of the Event Log.
Get URL ContentRequests a URL from a server and display the page received. (Includes access to a Traceroute tool to test network routing.)
